You can add some scenery to a new afcad with the likes of Rnwy12 Object Placer or ASD - However you will need
Flattex by Mario Corallo which is a very simple Flatten and exclude tool prior to placing the AFCAD :)

I found this photomap of the airport -
http://www.geo.ed.ac.uk/scotgaz/feature ... s1334.html#

Does anyone have a copy of Pooleys with "Isle of Skye Airport" in it - I'll be glad to lay something out for our friends at CBFSVA :)
Looks fairly simple runs paralell to the shore - doesnt look to have any aids

Leif
I think the only aid is Eyeball Mk1. It is still used although at the moment they are storing parts of a windfarm on it. September 07

I had better luck googling "Ashaig Airstrip" - Its best claim to fame seems to be hosting the Isle of Skye Music festival :)

You answered the one question I had - which were the runway headings = you couldnt read them on the Aerial shots of the field

If you gents would like - I'll bash it out when I get home from work :)

Leif

Thats interesting - according to Pooleys it has no lighting - yet the couple of photos I found quite clearly show runway lights :doho:

Yep saw that Garry

I guess I have been in the States too long, Im used to almost all G/A airports in the US having runway lights (usually radio activated)
It might explain the wind farm parts ;) maybe they are planning to run the lights off those
There were a couple of newspaper articles I trawled up that talked about expanding the airport although looking at the O/S map on the
east end there seems to be a cemetary or historical marker and on the west end it goes into the bay, I must admit from the photos I trawled
up the scenery is totally breathtaking :)

There is at least one Microlight based at the airfield. The hangar seems to be like a Grrenhouse tunnel but white. In all the years I have been going to Skye I have to admit I've never been down to the airfield.

Hi,

Managed to dig out a few more snippets of info. If we can get a freeware version of Broadford then the routes from Glasgow and Inverness will be added for the Islander and Trislander.

See entry for 1972

I'll knock a runway and a basic apron up for FSX users this weekend.
