LIPV - Seriously??

Post by adysmith »

Booked a flight from LFPB to LIPV in the VC9, because it had never been flown before according tot he route statistics.

Got airborne, heading off to Italy so I decided to look up Venice Lido (LIPV)

It has a 1,000 metre grass runway with the lagoon to welcome you if you go off the end!!!

Don't be surprised if I divert to LIPZ :OB:

:-O

There is a moral to this story but I'm sure you know what it is now

I can't imagine why that would be there for the VC9 unless at one time (when the schedule was taken from World Air Routes), it had a 'proper' runway :dunno: Even with a divert, the onward flight will book you to LIPV so this is going to be a sticky one to get out of. Unless you really want the fight.. I'd suggest 'bugging out' of FSA so the flight doesn't end then wait 24hrs for the flight to un-book. At least you won't suffer penalties doing it this way. The only other alternative is to bug-out then cancel the flight.

Well I got in, careful speed control, plant it on the numbers, full reverse and brakes, now can I get out!

Well done mate  I thought it would be possible but wasn't sure how willing you were to take the risk

Do a couple of dry runs at getting out before going 'live'. If it looks too hairy heading toward the lagoon end.. point her in the opposite end and with crash detection off.. you have those extra feet ;)
