B377 Stratocruiser

Post by adysmith »

What model does anybody use for this?
i have bought the A2A Wings of Silver model, I cn get it airborne, just, but I cannot get it to accelerate/climb.
With the engines sat at red line for MAP, RPM, Torque, it will only reach 170 KIAS in level flight with 25 degrees flap; if I try to retract flaps it slows down and stalls. (Aircraft pitch angle is minus two degrees so it should be accelerating)

It climbs with 25 flap at barely one hundred feet per minute, any more climb and it slows down and stalls.

Any ideas

It took me all my time to stop it catching fire! Ended up buying the Accusim addon thereby giving the FE a poke in the ribs  He's still pretty poor though. With a little practice and Accusim.. I did manage to get it up and down without too much drama. That done.. I've not flown it since!!

Failing the A2A model.. you might be able to cheat with Manfred Jahn's C97. OK.. it's a military Strat but there are now 6 model versions so carrying pax is not out of the question. Not 100% certain you could fool FSA with it but it shouldn't be out of the question with some fiddling. As with the A2A Strat.. the C97 is FSX only (though it'll probably port to P3D without issues).

Other than these 2.. I can't think of anything else.

I have used the A2A model, it is a bear to get up in the air but it can be done. The trick is keeping the torque and airspeed at the right numbers. ATC will complain your not climbing fast enough but ignore it.

I can get it in the air, but even at 100 FpM (lack of) climb rate it won't accelerate to the correct climb speed.

Two things are critical, keep your BMEP in the range of 175-180 or higher, you can't just set the MP and RPM's, you have to adjust both to keep the torque up.
Second is keep your speed in the range of 180-190 KIAS. You will have to step climb to maintain your speed and ATC, if you use it, will not be happy cause they wan't you to climb faster.

Oo-eer! I'd been watching that A2A B337 Stratocruiser on YouTube and was trying to think of a way I could approach Babs to see if she would advance me some spare cash to buy it. :worried: Think I'll wait and save up for the Constellation instead as to get an engineer on the B337 you end up paying near the price for the Connie. :-O

Now must find me way back to the Forum! 8)

I've read that the FE on the Connie is a lot more competent but I don't know that first hand. Prices are identical mate. The WoS Strat is $36.99 and if you buy the CoS (Accusim) addon at the same time, you get THAT for $23.. $59.99 in total. The Connie comes with CoS included and costs $59.99. You pays your money e t c ;)

Torque is on the red line, if I could get a speed of 180 I would be deliriously happy!
