Ive sorted the fish bowl effect in 2004, i just set the viewing distance to max.

but i do have the stutter problem, but not as bad as some of you's it sounds.

I find the clouds and AI traffic set above 30% makes the stutter worse for me.

I take back my ramblings about 2002/2004

Late reply, but thought I might as well join in! I'm an FS2004 man myself (although I was running FS2002 as well until April this year!). System is an AMD 2.6, 1 gig pc2700 Ram, FX5900Ultra with 256 mb Ram and an Audigy 5.1 sound card. Everything is maxed out, and I have LOADS of add-ons (including a fair amount of military AI which which are distinctly non-AI friendly  ); usually manage 30+ fps, although major airports dip down to about 15 fps. Might invest in another 512 mb of Ram, and may upgrade the processor, but frankly I'm getting very acceptable results.

I think that FS2004 gives us a lot more "bang for our buck"; my only gripe at the moment is losing some of my earlier downloads (mainly helicopters and props) due to the animations not working but, with all these wonderful developers beavering away, the gaps are being rapidly filled.

Try http://www.komplett.co.uk for reasonable prices for graphics cards (prices include VAT). Cheapest Radeon X800 Pro is £266.

Up until the Hunter was released, I was on FS2002. Got FS2004 just for the Hunter! :D

Still have both installed although using FS2004 at the moment

I moved over to FS9 months after trying it first. The weather and ATC are better, but as someone who spent most flying time on the Viscount, the transition was disappointing. However it forced me to learn how adjustments and improvements could be made through the panel gauges
and now I prefer the FS9 performance to that of 2002. It's also important to be able to keep up; when the next FS release comes along, all the addons from FS2002 will be even older.

I use FS2004.

I noticed that my spec is way below anyone elses, but I seem to have no problems, apart from a very occasional stutter :? Heres my spec:

AMD Athlon XP 1700+ (1.47GhZ actual speed)
384mb SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce2 MX400 64Mb

As this is my only Win9x comp, I have loads of stuff on it, but my game performs fine, except the odd stutter and slow menu. Odd!

I didn't mention the spec in the PC post so here goes....

Intel P4 3.2GHz
1Gb PC3200 RAM
nVidia FX5900XT
XP Home ( )

It was a recent build after the previous one suffered a serious mouse problem - basically it climbed inside and c**pped all over the graphics card!!!!

This runs FS2004 at 1280x1024 with (normally!) 25fps minimum until I fly over Fairford with the RIAT scenery!!!

managed to borrow the projector from work this weekend - a bit out of the ordinary flying with an 8ft wide cockpit projected on the wall!

FS2002 for me. Someone complained about stuttering, but the one sure fire way to eliminate it is to be running an FS version lower than the current one on a PC spec'd above what M$ claim you need to run it.

I have FS02 running at about the frame rate I think it should run (30fps)(especially in the dense scenery around London with all the options enabled including as many AI aircraft as the sim gives you) at 1024x768 res, all the rendering options to max etc on my Atlhon XP2800+, 512MB, Radeon 9600SE system, so I am happy. I am starting to get the itch for slightly better graphics, but I might bypass FS04 in the way I bypassed FS2K and wait for FS2006.
