FSX acceleration problem

Post by robbie »

Hi guys,
Finally received my new system yesterday, it's fast, very fast!!.

So I did a fresh install of FSX and activated it ok, then installed FSX acceleration but there was no activation box at the end of the install and now I'm getting the dreaded error code 1-80004005.
I've tried a complete reinstall and repair 4 times now and I'm stumped, FSX times out after 30 minutes as a trial.

Everything was ok on the old system and I've tried to find a solution online without success, mainly because I have no idea what I'm doing lol. so I'm sitting here watching the snow come down with a tall pile of dvd's of my very expensive add-ons, wondering if I should give up and buy P3d ouch!!! after 2 days of trying you can imagine I'm somewhat...grumpy.

Can anyone walk me through a possible fix to get the activation to work please?, I would be VERY grateful.

Robbie.

I will watch this one with interest. I replaced my Motherboard, CPU and RAm and of course had to reinstall everything onto my newly purchased Windows 10 64 bit. My FSX Gold would not install whatsoever without a variety of error messages popping up. on one occasion I got as far as the Acceleration disc but that returned the whole caboodle to demo mode as the registration part would not permit. They were all well documented errors but none of the fixes worked for me.
There being only so many hours in a day, I resorted to FSXSE which I has purchased on a special deal thru STEAM for about $5 ages ago. That worked just fine. It is a bit of a pest when adding things to it as I have to drill down several layers folders to reach FSX every time, but, touch wood :S it seems pretty stable compared to the Gold version.
That may be your best option Robbie, pick it up in the next sale.

Oh! It's pissing from the heavens here in true BC fashion. :OT:

Had the same problem myself and the following worked for me.
Case sensitive, look out for capitals.
Good luck.

1) Locate the entry below by regedit.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS
\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
2) Look at UpperFilters key.  It should contain “PartMgr” only.
3) If the key shows something more, mark down what they are
before editing the key to read “PartMgr” only.
4) Start FSX, the activation dialog should be prompted.
5) Proceed and let FSX start, then exit FSX.
6) Edit back the registry key with the previous content. (This step may not be required.)

Hi Alex,
I don't understand why this is happening as I'm still using Windows 7 nothing really changed!!. I'm trying to steer clear of steam as I've used it before with train sim and really didn't like all the garbage that goes with it.
just hope one of our boffins has fix for us

Been snowing non stop since yesterday morning, I cleared 3 feet this morning just to get out door!!.

OMG Rob it worked like a charm..even for a thicko like me, absolutely incredible!!
The upper filters key had "FNETHYRAMASPartMgr" edited it and voila fixed.
Thank you so much
Robbie.

Wow another one copied to my file of "things to consider" should I ever install the discs again, unfortunately once you go the Steam route, the Gold is knocked out forever.
