Shalom and greetings all my pals,
While I am working hard to modify and sharpen FSX's settings to get crisp sharp ground textures from FL350 which I am doing well, I have one more question for all of you please
Is AffinityMask entry in FSX.cfg important or not? Will AffinityMask result into sharper ground textures from FL350?
And should I use AffinityMask=84 in my FSX.cfg? Is it correct number?
I know it is old news and old topic for all of you but AffinityMask is new thing for me even though I have been flying on FSX for almost 10 years.
Regards,
Aharon

Re: Is AffinityMask Important??
Hi Aharon,
Affinity Mask has no bearing on how your ground textures look. What it does is sets the sim up to use multiple cores (or not depending on the setting). 84 seems an off the cuff number. I think mine is 14!!. Do a google search and you'll find the correct info for your needs

Re: Is AffinityMask Important??
I used to have an affinity mask, it was supposed to optimise Active Sky Next (ASN) to work with FSX and "prevent" ten minute pauses allegedly caused by both programs trying to access the same core at the same time.
I followed the advice in ASN, I tried googling and setting it according to assorted internet "advice", I tried setting it manually.
None of these ever cured the dreaded ten minute freezes.
I did eventually cure the problem and prevent the ten minute freezes.
BY DISABLING/REMOVING THE AFFINITY MASK COMPLETELY!

I watched a vid about setting the affinity mask for p3d, it entailed reading the binary code for the cores being used or something like that , a bit much for my noggin so I decided to leave well alone lol
