The new site and Google Chrome

Post by cstorey »

Since the move, I cannot gain access to the site using Chrome, and have had to resort to the dreaded Firefox as hijacked by Yahoo

On Chrome all I get is this :

This site can’t be reached

The webpage at https://cbfsim.co.uk/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
ERR_SPDY_INADEQUATE_TRANSPORT_SECURITY

All suggestions for how to deal with this gratefully received

Hi Chris,

I've no idea. You might need to clear out your temporary internet files or whatever Google calls them. Have you tried typing https://cbfsim.co.uk directly into the browser address bar? The site is all now HTTPS and has a valid security certificate. I've checked Edge and IE and don't have problems, but I don't use anything Google I'm afraid. *-)

A bit of digging shows that its to do with the order in which the webserver uses Cypher Suits. I'll see if I can change the order or remove the cyphersuite that's causing the issue, but it might take a bit of time.

Hi Chris,

I've just run a 3rd party security test and its all fine. The issue could be the version of Chrome, could you let me know the version number please? Some old versions of Chrome (and other browsers) don't support the latest security.

The Stats page is down in IE too Ady. I'm not sure if this isn't something DM needs to fix.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I think it may be caused by this being an old chrome version _ I cannot use a new one because I am on XP !! I suppose I shall have to use a newer OS eventually, but XP has been so reliable that I am reluctant

I have tried typing the new address in directly but it produces the same result

Yes Chris, that will be it. XP is considered insecure and can't use the current crypto. Nothing much I can do I'm afraid. Windows 10 is pretty bullet proof, but it will be quite a change from XP as there were 4 other OSs in between. If there's anything I can help with just shout.

Chris/Ben, these are very interesting comments. I too am still on XP as well as FS9 using an old pc. Although a replacement pc, and hence W10 would be a big change, moving on to something like P3dv4 would be quite challenging as well as very expensive.
I'm really not sure which course of action to take. I suppose getting a new W10 pc which would run fs9 or maybe fsx easily is one option as opposed to giving up on fs altogether. Something for me to contemplate. *-) EricT

Thank you Ben for the explanation. I shall for the moment just continue to gain access by using Firefox which doesn't seem to have a problem
