Thanks for that heads up Nigel. I think I'll get those.
Hi Chris, make sure you read the install instructions though it is really ABC to do but just make sure you copy your Resources Folder and place the copy somewhere safe.

I did not use True Lights though they are good but you could see traffic lights during the day and from a distance which to my mind spoil it nor did I try True Waves but may install at some point.
Thanks for the HU Nigel, I'll give those a shot. At the moment I'm a bit underwhelmed by XP. Although it does have many good features, I'm finding it a bit disappointing.
Dave, I felt exactly the same after buying it and thought I had made a huge mistake, the controls are very sensitive which made handling difficult but what I have done is gone into Plane Maker and after copying the aircraft and placing them into a backup folder started to alter some of the settings such as rudder movement and elevators as well as ailerons to make them turn and fly with a bit more stick movement but I have read that the forthcoming update to 11.30 Laminar are making quite a few changes and two of them are:

Updated joystick config files to use sim/autopilot/servos_off_any.
and
New UI for manually setting joystick curves per axis.

So when that comes out I will replace the aircraft I fiddled with but keep them and put back the originals.

After a while and because it is completely different to that of FSX it did take me time to get used to but now I would not be without it, if you need any help or advice just ask and I am sure that somebody can point you in the right direction.

Regards
Nigel.

Cheers Nigel, I'll have a look at that, although I'm finding the flight controls ok, the rudder control on the ground seems way ott.
My main issue at the moment though is the lack of aircraft and airfields that suit my flying. I suppose I've been spoilt with P3d in that I have high quality addons and the available XP freeware just doesn't match up ( there is excellent freeware, just not of the type I would like).
I don't really want to splash out on payware yet.
I'll spend more time with the sim over the weekend.

Hi Dave, I have not yet splashed out any money on tubeliners though I would really like to but find that the asking prices are to my wallet a bit steep.

There is one excellent freeware 737 that is well worth downloading, you can find it here: https://www.x737.eu/index.php?new-x737-version-5

This is definitely payware quality though if you are like Ben, you may choose not to have it

Another one is this: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... -plane-11/

Though you do need to know a bit of Russian to fly her but handles beautifully.

I also have this and can highly recommend it: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... -turbolet/

If you fly small single engine aircraft another freeware one worth downloading is the Aerobask Robin which is excellent.
https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... 1-cdi-155/

Or a much quicker aircraft is the Lancair-Legacy: https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/f ... legacy-fg/

All the above are well worth downloading if only as a stop gap before buying payware ones.

If you do fly in the States then Mr X6 Airport Sceneries are well worth downloading (payware quality) I don't often fly stateside but have them for the occasional times I go there.

UK 2000 Scenery have started making some airports for X plane 11: http://www.uk2000scenery.com/newsite/My ... age31.html

Some freeware add-ons that will interest you and the first two are a must especially if you have Track IR.

https://www.stickandrudderstudios.com/x ... -x-camera/

https://www.simcoders.com/headshake/fea ... d-download

Gives you vibrations from piston engines and also headshake as you take off/land on runways, adds more realism to your flights.

There are also pushback features available, this is the one I have: https://github.com/skiselkov/BetterPushbackC/releases

Hope this helps in some way.

Regards
Nigel.

Thanks Nigel, I've got most of those already. I've got the Zibo 737 rather than the x737 one, but I'm not much of a tube flier anyway. I could have sworn I saw a decent freeware Twotter a while back, but now I can only find a payware one. :dunno:
I mainly fly warbirds or other military aircraft which seem to be lacking. I'm half tempted to get the JF Hawk, but as I mentioned, I'm trying to avoid payware at the moment.

Link is at the bottom. I downloaded and flew it from Southampton Airport for one quick circuit, the cockpit is a bit dark inside but could not find the lights for the cockpit but is OK when the sun shines through, the sounds are nothing like the Twin Otter but it flies well apart from when applying flaps for landing. I had full flaps set and had to trim all the way down and it still would not descend, I think some tweaking in Plane Maker will sort that out though but for a freeware aircraft and if you are prepared to try to alter the flaps or even land with 2 notches of flap (which I did not try) then it is good for general flying.

The handling seems to be very good so give it a go and see how you get on with it. Make sure that you get the v1051 Models the others v970 are for X Plane 10. There are also repaints you can download as well as the short nosed version.

Hope this helps: http://aeropedro.despair.ch/Aeropedro/DeHavilland.html

That Alpha Jet looks really good, going to have to down-load that then try the Mach Loop that is if my navigation is right!
