42 inch screen

I like to acquire stuff at the tip.
Bought a 42 inch Samsung TV screen for $5.
I've run some basic tests in the museum shed, and I think it has possibilities.
Downloaded a manual for it, but I'm a bit worried about this line copied from it:
DNIeTM technology will fit every signals into your eyes.
Hope to attach it to the computer tomorrow; I'll send a photo. :worried:

It's actually a lifetime warranty.
If it breaks down,it's at the end of its life.
Very disappointed that the highest resolution is 1072 x 768, so it looks awful in FSX. :'( :'(
Also, sitting less than a metre from the screen makes me feel sick.
I can't stand loading the photo into my website to upload it. Tomorrow I'll put the smaller screen back on, and post it then.

Well, here it is, another dream wrecked on the rocks of reality!
See how it dwarfs Mrs Airspeed's unit on the right!

I was just thinking - with a resolution of 1072 x 768 on a 40" screen, the pixels must be the size of small postage stamps. Are you sure you can't bump up a setting on your GPU ? What's that Nvidia thing where you can set up higher resolutions for specified programs - I tried it once and it worked quite well.

Thanks for the thought Paul.
The instruments were impossible to read, that's how bad the detail was. :|
The only option that came up was 1072 etc, no more, no less. It and FSX both identified the unit as what it is, and both gave the single choice.
I've just updated the NVIDIA driver, but I don't expect anything to change.
It weighs a "ton", so I'm not going to hoist it up on the computer table again tonight. Also, when I left it run for half an hour, I saw screen flicker. Asked a TV repairer, and he said unless I'm prepared to spend $400-$500 on it, chuck it out. I can buy a biggish new screen for that, so I don't think the Samsung will be around for long. :OB:

My Gran always used to tell me I'd get square eyes if I sat that close to the telly!

Oh well. at least it only set you back $5 Mike.

Yep, for $5 it was worth a try. Can it be used as a TV in a spare room, maybe ? ;)
