FS9 Embarrassment Overload
I never thought that I'd have to ask anyone about this.
I reinstalled FS2004.
The application file is here: F:\Flight Simulator 9\fs9.exe
The shortcut properties, and every other place I check says Run as administrator. I have applied that to all users (just to be sure)
I have full permissions, and am system administrator.
No matter whether I click on the shortcut, or on the exe file in Explorer, I get UAC asking if I want to let this unknown publisher make changes to my computer [MS W7 doesn't know that MS published FS9??]
I click YES
The little blue circle rotates for about 4 or 5 seconds, then disappears. Task Manager confirms that no applications are running.
I tried with Disc 4 in the CD drawer. No difference.
I couldn't discover which Version I had, so I d/l SP1, which ran and congratulated now updated to 9.1
No difference.
Any tips, please?

Re: FS9 Embarrassment Overload
It will still prompt you to run it mate, it does on Windows 10 too. I can’t remember what it looks like on windows 7 but on 10 it’s something like “are you sure you want to proceed” and then you click yes or no. Yes it launches, no it doesn’t.
Ben.

As I said, Ben:

I also put Disc 1 in, tried "RUN" same result.
I tried to register on line, was taken to a sales page, then reminded that W7 is no longer supported.

Re: FS9 Embarrassment Overload
Hope I didn't sound ungrateful, Ben.
This is how it looks:
I believe that SP1 is the "no cd crack", I'll pop back on and see if I'm right.
EDIT
I WAS WRONG!
Have now overwritten fs9.exe, and it appears to be loading .
Thanks for your help, Ben. Truly appreciated, always respect your knowledge.

Re: FS9 Embarrassment Overload
So my point is Microsoft didn’t publish the no cd crack. Actually, thinking about this, could it be that you have the 9.1 update installed, but the 9.0 no cd crack? Let me check mine.
Ben.
Re: FS9 Embarrassment Overload
Hi Mike. I can confirm that FS9 runs on W10 with the no cd crack and 9.1 installed.I always receive a prompt to which I have to accept. Only difference With me is that mine is installed on my D drive which is a HDD.
Probably not much help to you though. Best wishes EricT

Hi Mike,
Try this one. I've just taken it from my PC which is working.

Mike
I had this trouble when I changed from XP to W10
It may be worth following the advice given in this link : it's rather a long thread , and you may have to experiment with some of the conflicting views , but it ( eventually ) worked for me : Good Luck

Re: FS9 Embarrassment Overload
Yes, you have to use the Nocd fs9.exe for it to run in Win10
Basically due to a perceived security risk, Microsoft
deliberately broke the 'digital rights management' software, which is part of the fs9 cd , both for it's own products, and everybody else's.
There was a workaround published on the web, which required you to effectively hack your registry , and self sign the digital security .dll as a 'software developer' , but even this option has been withdrawn by subsequent Win10 updates.
