For the record, phpBB is kept up to date within a day or 2 of the latest FULL STABLE RELEASE.
We do not, and will not use BETA versions of forum or other software. This is because BETA software is exactly what it says BETA. There is no formal support and the software is still in developement. When phpBB2 goes end of life, we will look at a replacement which may be phpBB3, but this is still a very long way off.
Don't expect to see phpBB3 here until sometime next year.
