Hello,

Four flights done on the 748. If you want me to do the extra two due to the one engined arrival as discussed; no problem, seems fair to me. I have only just talked the nervous elderly passenger off the aircraft... they won't be asking for a window seat near the engine again!!

Question regarding type ratings, im planing of doing my last training flight on the Trident tomorrow and also want to get a 727 rating, can i just start working on that or does someone somewhere need to add me to the training programme for it?
Thanks

Paul

Hiya Paul :)

We've been trying to maintain a 'tight ship' as far as ratings go. By this, I mean that after one rating has been achieved.. you're expected to fly 10 fare earning flights in it before requesting another. This equates to your training flights (non-earning) plus 10. If at any point you think you've made a wrong choice, you can request to have a rating withdrawn. You don't lose anything by doing this and it means 1 less rating you have to keep current. For this reason, it's a good idea to make sure you like the aircraft you want a rating on before you ask for a rating.

After your initial rating with the airline, all further new ratings only require 4 training flights but we ask if you can make a further 10 fare earning flights on the type before requesting another.

If a rating lapses.. eg, you've not flown the type for over 12 months and your rating is pulled.. if you want it back, you're required to do 2 training flights on it before a full rating is re-issued.

This is the way we were operating.. I'm not sure if DM is applying the same rules  In the end, it's stops pilots having more ratings than they know what to do with and cuts down on admin.

Hope this answers your question ;)

Thanks for the reply Dave, its only those 2 i want really, but its a very good idea all the same, stop people have 10 ratings and never flying the aircraft.

10 ratings is only touching the surface mate

I'll allocate the B72 TR for you now and let you chip away at your own speed ;)

Finally finished the Elizabethan training flights, so I would ask for that to be converted to a full rating. Hopefully will be back flying more often here and even better should have my new system up and running within a couple days.
