Lovely job Dave, that's the one I've been waiting to see :)

Don't suppose you've got the ship to go with it? :hide:

It's not a 'bird', it's an aeroplane or an aircraft

Oh how I wish Paul :( I know there's an Eagle on the go.. it's been on the go for years. Must have sailed into the Bermuda Triangle 8) I've recently learned there's another 'vaguely' on the go too. Whether I live long enough to see either remains to be seen :S

I was wondering how many aircraft carriers were in RN service at any one time. I've seen lists, and guess it would have been in the 1950's, but can't be sure.

:dunno:

At the end of the 50's, we had Eagle, Ark Royal, Centaur, Albion, Bulwark, Hermes and Victorious. Glory, Ocean and Theseus were probably laid up and Triumphs future was uncertain. She was eventually converted to a mobile repair facility. Centaur was next to go. A fire late 60's meant an early retirement for Victorious.. Albion, Bulwark and Hermes were converted to commando carriers. By the early 70's.. Eagle had gone leaving Ark Royal as the only bonafide carrier plus Hermes in her commando role. CV-01 had been cancelled in the 60's making way for the thru-deck cruisers (Illustrious, Invincible and Ark Royal V) which started building in the 70's.

And now.. they're all gone :(

I thought that was quite a lot  When I joined up ('73) we had Ark Royal and Hermes.. 1 carrier and one commando ship! 8) That said, the fleet was a darned sight larger than it is today.. the Suez was still closed, we had a base in Malta and Hong Kong was sovereign territory :-O

Okey dokey..

For the user that downloaded my previous light grey paints.. they've all been redone using the darker grey. The downloads assume you have the originals so if you don't.. you'll have to make suitably named folders to put the updated textures in. Here they are:

Texture154v2

TextureWW134v2

TextureXD212v2

TextureXD221v2

TextureXD224v2

TextureXD226v2

TextureXD235v2

TextureXD268v2

Any probs.. just shout
