BAC 1-11 VC anomaly

Post by borgfan »

I've installed the DM BAC 1-11 in FS9 and FSX and both installations seem to operate ok. However when looking out the left cockpit window in VC, there appears a thin black rectangle shape which tracks the VC view. Any ideas as to whether this might be a problem with my set-up or is it normal for the model?

Thanks
Gerard

Hi Borgfan..

That black rectangle looks like the pitot.. there's one on the other side too. Can't remember it being black before but it may well be. I'll have a look on my FS9 pc.

Just checked the original FS9 model file. The probe's present and pitch black.

That's the ice detector probe. Trust me I flew the real airplane.

Of course it is :wall: It should be black too shouldn't it! However.. it looks like its missing a texture along with the handle and one or two other bits in that shot.

This is odd.. I swear Bjoern's reply wasn't there when I made my last one. No way it could have shot in after mine so I must have missed it 8)

Had a quick look in FSX and both the probe and handle are grey. Black sounds right ;)

On my fsx, the probe and window handle go light brown at dusk, Black when you put the cockpit lighting on. I think its one of those fsx thingies

Yup, 't is a FSX thingy. In part caused due to only using a generic color instead of a full blown texture. See also the rudder pedal pit.

As far as I can remember from the real aircraft, I think it should be grey; but I could be wrong, it's 31 years since I flew it.
