New member, probs with BAC1-11

Post by johnno22 »

Hi guys. Have Windows10 running FSX-SE fine. Just d'loaded the BAC1-11-400_FSX.zip and its all there.... love it. BUT.... even after 10yrs of FS experience I can't start these BAC-11 engines.... also the flap actuators on my Yoke work fine on all other a/c but not on BAC1-11.
Please... I need a step by step engine start procedure structured for a not very smart fella. I suspect the sound is also absent although it is on the list.
Help very much appreciated.... thanks

Hiya Johnno and welcome to the forums ;)

I've just blown the dust off the 475 and it starts.. begrudgingly I admit but it starts nontheless :)

Where did you get the file BAC1-11-400_FSX.zip from? DM has always hosted his own files and none were ever suffixed FSX so I'm guessing this isn't an original.

Yep.. I know. Fingers crossed it's a temporary situation :worried:

Fact remains that the file Johnno mentioned isn't from there nor here as far as I'm aware so it's difficult to offer support on it. Did the native conversion Bjoern did have that filename I wonder? Let's have a look *-)

EDIT: No.. it's not Bjoern's file either.

Hmm.. I found a file of that name over at Simviation. It reads as follows:

BAC 1-11-400 Multi Livery Pack This is the great Bac 1-11 by David Maltby with some small updates from Ricardo_TV. Includes liveries American, British Airways, SAS, Cambrian, Laker, Air UK, LAR. Hush kit version also included with added textures of Birmingham European, British Midland, Cymru, Manx, Air Manchester. Includes high quality VC. Assembled for FSX by Chris Evans. All credits to David Maltby and textures from HJG members.

Despite it looking like a livery pack, it seems the models are included with updates by Ricardo_TV and Chris Evans. All credits to David Maltby and textures from HJG members is a smoke screen to upload a model they've fiddled with which includes paints already done.

Under the circumstances Johnno.. I'm gonna have to direct you to Ricardo_TV and/or Chris Evans as it's not possible to offer support from here.

I've converted the 1-11 models to FSX native (better performance) and implemented some fixes and enhancements, including the engine start procedure.

Don't forget to read the readme.

I seriously considered doing the Budgie at one point, but the experience with the 1-11 taught me that even a model conversion with ModelConverterX isn't as simple as it sounds. Plus all the system related fixes and improvements also take their time, of which I have only very little. Some day, maybe.

The Jetstream is tempting, too, but I don't know if some mere cockpit seats will suffice to bring it up to spec.

P.S: I did blush a little when reading your post. Same with interactions with other legends of MSFS development.
