Helen and Alison, very many thanks for taking the time to reply to our posts, I cannot add anything more than what has been written since your reply.

Dave was well liked and respected not only here but also on other Forums and we all feel his loss greatly.

Although I am unable to travel to pay my respects my thoughts will be with you on the Thursday 31st August.

With sincere best wishes.

Nigel Howard-Jones.

Dear all,
I've just came back home from holiday today and I can not believe what I read. :'(
I've never met Dave, but you understand from his messages here that he was a true gentleman. When my father died, Dave got moving words for me.
I lost a friend, though far away. :'(

Ciao Dave, and blue sky!
My condolences to his family and to his dearest friends
Francesco

Hello Helen

Thank you for your post.
Dave was truly the Patriarch of our forum and the posts in this thread show the love and respect we all held for him. It's also obvious how much this forum meant to Dave.
I was fortunate to meet Dave, quite some years ago at Duxford. Also, I'm fairly certain that I met you - I'm sure your Dad had his young daughter with him.
Ben has forwarded your Fathers address and I'm amazed to find it's less than a mile from the house where I grew up in Bloxwich. I continued to visit that house up until two years ago, following the death of my Father.
That you have found comfort from the above posts, brings us comfort too.
Please feel free to drop into the forum at any time. I'm sure you will receive a very warm welcome and you won't even be expected to talk aeroplanes.

My Sincere condolences and best wishes

Kevin

Shocked to hear the news :( airboatr let me know via pm and to him thank you. I met Dave a few times, a super helpful bloke and thoroughly knowledgeable and generous with his time. I had many a personal look around "Superb" with Dave and he always had time for this old Airman.
My sincerest condolences to all his family and I send my heartfelt best wishes to you all.

Condolences to Dave's family and friends.

I didn't know him like many others on here did, but he was always the first to reply when I was asking for help or advice; a genuinely nice and enthusiastic person who loved the hobby and loved helping others to enjoy it too.

Will be sadly missed.
Thanks

Unexpectedly went past Portsmouth on Thurs . A glorious day in the Solent , and was able to say cheerio to Dave on passing HMS Queen Elizabeth . He would have enjoyed seeing her , a proper carrier 'tho no angled deck . Unfortunately no camera .
Sadly , we've had to say cheerio to one of our own yesterday .
A much loved friend and colleague by all the CA team . Had to keep it all together yesterday whilst procedures and processes were worked through .
Saturday early am at the field , a delightful summer silence B4 the 1st engine start . Sombre silence through the rest of a long day .

Beers and tears last night .
