Engaging the GPS in the 1-11

Could anybody tell me how to set/engage the GPS in the DM 1-11 510ED in fsx?
I can set the route in the flight planner, but when I press the 'GPS' button on the radio stack, the route on the gps isn't turning pink and the a/c has no intention of following it. Is there another switch somewhere? Thanks in advance!
