First off, I love Dave Garwood's Mossie! I'd like some info on how to operate the Direction Finder(?) on the Mosquito B.IV. How do I tune the nav radio? I can't figure out what the indicator is indicating.

Hi Eric, and welcome. :hello:
In glad you're enjoying the Mossie. I'll have to have a look myself as it's been a while and I can't remember exactly!
I'll get back to you.

OK, the DF works off Nav1. The freq can be set either using the pop-up radio (shift-2) or the radio in the VC mounted behind the pilot. The knobs on the right-hand side of the radio set the nav frequency. I had to fudge the radio to work with the FSX nav frequencies (108.00 to 117.95MHz), so it's not how the real radio would work. The top RH dial sets the 10MHZ freq part of the band (will be 1 or 0), the middle dial set the 1MHz part, and the lower dial the decimal places. The 100MHz portion will always be 1. The comm radio on the left side works the same way.
In the pic below you can see the nav radio has been set to 114.20MHz, and comm radio to 128.30MHz

Switching back to the cockpit, the two pointers on the DF will indicate if a signal is received and where they cross will indicate the direction to fly to intercept the source. If they cross on the center mark then you're flying directly to the signal, otherwise steer toward the direction indicated.

Hope that helps.
