Hi Ben,
Your image is showing as "Image" to me.
When I click on the map pins, I just get a slightly larger map.
Do we have to be logged in Insiders?

You have to click on the text link where it says "Check out the map here" and then you can access the balloons.

I know George, but that was 6 months ago. I live in hope. It’s infinitely better than the default of any other sim.

I had a look at the Southampton shots too as I do quite a bit of virtual flying in the area, very atmospheric.

Yes, Ben, the buildings are represented life-like; I do wonder whether they flatten, like photoreal scenery does, or do they have volume at low altitude. I'm rarely above 3000ft, so that's important to me.
Looking at Brisbane below, no more roads and buildings cut in half by waterways, and goodbye oceanic water texture on inland water. BUT; will we lose road traffic in the process?

Re: Blown away
Watching some of the videos released by MS the buildings are definitely 3D. There's also some road traffic in evidence, and operating more realistically than in the past, although the density doesn't seem to have been turned up yet. But then it is still in alpha so plenty more to come before release.

Re: Blown away
The ability to auto generate a 3D building has taken leaps and bounds in the last few years because the amount of available imagery and radar data has blossomed massively. If you look at any major metropolitan area in Google Maps, you'll find that almost all (if not all) of the buildings, especially those in the central business district, are in 3D, even off the web app when you click the 3D button. That's generated directly from the radar and imagery data, no human intervention. With something like Azure working in the background to "clean up" some of the issues that creates (like not straight lines and stretched textures) this level of realism is finally actually available on a world scale.
It's amazing the times we live in.
