Dave Maltby site down?

Post by tonymadge »

I may be behind the curve here but I noticed that Dave's models on this site are not showing in the library and his own website is no longer available, apologies if this has been answered before.
Many thanks Tony

Hi Tony, we never hosted his models here as he had his own site and his thoughts at the time where he wanted to keep them in one place. I’m sure his site was actually a sub site on the surcarlo server I think? It was so long ago I can’t remember. I’m sure we could get the models up if he would be happy enough.

I stand to be corrected, but, I think DM FLIGHTSIM's actual downloadable file content was hosted by SIMVIATION.COM .... weren't they ?

I recall there being a SIMVIATION donation tab on the site.

Fortunately I have his "entire file content" in my possession.

All of the DMFS files were accessible via the common site about 2 weeks ago .... when I last visited it in order to verify some details.

I've launched an inquiry .... in so far I can .... in case there may be some technical glitch.

Again .... all of the DMFS files were accessible around 2 weeks ago, so, whatever's happened is "recent".

I'll report back if I learn more as a query/comment has also been posted on the HJG forum .... also hosted by SIMVIATION too.

The domain name expired on 14th May, and the registrar has disabled the site by changing the Nameservers.

From https://www.whois.com/whois/dmflightsim.co.uk:

All is not lost, there is usually 30 days grace for renewal. If anybody has contact with David, maybe a little reminder is all that is needed.

Thank you for the updates, I know the site was hosted on Simviation as is HJG so the site will be there but the domain name thing I guess is the issue. Hope it gets back up soon

I see on flightsim.com this morning, two files for FSX updating the DM Comets 4 and 4b. While Dave and Rick Piper are mentioned by name, I saw no mention of permission being sought or granted for these modifications. Usually the readme would include that info, and the original developer's readme.
Does anyone know if Dave authorised this?

Just a heads up guys,

I've spoken with DM and he's well; busy with work and other stuff. He's happy that we share his files here and in another location. I know the other location are doing a lot of work to maintain the information that he had on his site and I'm sure there will be an update in the next few weeks.

Once they have made their announcement I'll get the original files uploaded in the library too.
