Fairy Gannet

Post by CavOk »

Has anyone managed to sort out the FDE for Kazunori Ito's model so that it flies somewhere near the original. I quite like the visual model but I can't live with the flight dynamics.

Hi CavOK.

Kevin is usually the chap for this sort of thing.
His u/d FDE's for both Itosan's Scimitar and Swift have transformed them.

Itosan tends to use a generic FDE for everything,be it a Handley-Page 0400 or a modern jet-fighter,they all handle like a Gnat!!!!!!.

I know Kevin has a lot of work on to do FDE for many models
but does tend to concentrate on Itosan's work.

Hold tight and I'm sure he'll come up with the goods for the Gannet.

Incidentally, would you mind posting a link for the Gannet as I'm sure there's quite a few of us on here who'd like to get our paws on even a half-decent one.

Itosan's stuff tends to be a reasonable model and especially on the FAA stuff, has folding wings etc,but like you say,has poor FDE's and sounds
but at least he goes for a/c that we all like.

Mark,

Thanks for the very kind words, although I wouldn't like to be thought of as an "Ito specialist"

Funnily enough, I had modified the FDEs for one of the two Gannets last year (the AEW3) and added the COP package: I'll dig it out and post it on th CBFiles library in a little while.

I'll need to look at the anti-submarine one, 'cause the u/c is very different & the FDE has it wrongly located, but that shouldn't take too much time.

Cheers,

Kevin

Hi all,

For those who want revised flight dynamics for the Fairey Gannet, I've just uploaded a set for the AEW.3 to Classic British Files. There will be a set for the AS.1 eventually, but not just yet.

Please note that the 'aircraft.cfg' is set up for ONLY the three excellent new repaints by Daryl Payne, so if you want to keep the default, you know what you need to do!

There are three active files - 'aircraft.cfg', '.air' and a 'panel.cfg'; the aircraft is set up for the Carrier Ops Package by Rob B.

I've also taken the liberty of adding provision for the new gauge from Glenn Copeland - a look-down radar (sradar80.zip). If you don't have it, just revert the appropriate line in the 'panel.cfg'.

Cheers,

Kevin

and look in Newest Downloads.

Is this site noted in a sticky anywhere or is it on the front page?
