Mr. Maltby,

Just took the BAC 1-11 for my check rides and she flys like a dream!! 4 circuits @ Edinburgh 2 day and 2 night. Who needs the AP on this thing? Absolutely enjoyable, thank you again!

Thanks Dave,

Wonderful work, yet again.
I do however seem to have one small problem. The panel views and VC flash (ie the textures darken), in unison with the strobe.
I've tried a manual install and also deleted all the One-Eleven files, then reinstalled.
I still see the same effect.
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Regards

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

I don't yet have the latest 1-11 (at least I don't think so) but I've run the new Trident quite a bit and don't see that mate. There are occassions (on initial draw) when the VC is black and takes a few moments to load the textures up but definately nothing any worse than this. Does it happen all the time or just when you're in cloud or at night??

Hi Dave

The effect that I am seeing is a definite flashing (darkening) of the textures of the panel views and VC, consistent with the timing of the beacon. The 2D panel is not effected, only the panel views. If I switch off the beacon, the effect stops.
Now for the strange part...
I started up FS9.1, with BAC One-Eleven 400, Birmingham European as my chosen aircraft.
The engines were running, but all lights off. On starting the beacon, the effect started.
I switched aircraft to One-Eleven 500, BEA red square - no flashing effect. I switched views to outside the aircraft, and confirmed that the beacon was operating.
Back in the cockpit, I switched off then on the beacon. The flashing textures returned.
I have tried this several times, switching between different One-Elevens and always get the same thing happen.
Am I doing anything wrong with the start up? i.e. not from cold and dark.

Regards

Kevin

PS the effect is even more pronounced at night.

Kevin

Is it always on the 400?

Is it never on any of the others?

Or perhaps just the 500 or is it only when you switch it stops?

Hi Garry

This is affecting all of my One-Eleven aircraft.
On switching between One-Elevens, or even just colour schemes the effect stops until I re-cycle the beacon (i.e. off then back on).

Cheers

I've just downloaded the Trident update, and am seeing the same thing.
Reverting to the previous Trident, I get no problem.
The nearest that I can liken it to, is as if the panel lighting is switching on and off with the beacon.

Cheers

I've heard this one before, but it's not something I've ever seen myself.
I am wondering if it was you though Kevin. It was someone on this forum.

If the beacon effect is messing about with the textures, I'd look at the 'fx_beaconh' effect & maybe change it for something else.
Is it a non-standard version of the effect maybe? For a reference, the one I have is dated 09/08/2001.
I'd also check in the old Trident model & see if it's using the same lighting effect for the beacon in aircraft.cfg

Another possibility is graphics driver fault.

Is it only the panels with gauges that flash?
Or is it the side textures as well?

Awesome updates
