Rick, your Sycamore is probably the most beautiful helo I have ever seen for FS. I was very dissappointed to hear that is was to be for FSX, but then I decided it was worth the money, so, after buying a new computer and FSX Gold, .....here I wait, patiently, chewing my nails, pulling what little hair I have left, ...Thanks,

Mike (pointy31)

Rick have I missed something on this thread?? I thought it was FS9 and freeware, I guess thats not the case now, is it safe to assume your going fully payware for FSX only??

I am sure Rick will pop up himself and answer this properly, but the last I heard (as he no longer even has FS9 installed), he is developing the project as a Skysim project for FSX only. This is because of the added helicopter features such as underslung loads and winching that the Acceleration pack included. I have not seen or heard anything else over the summer, so I am not sure if his is still the plan.

Ee-gads Garry.. that was posted Jun 19 2007. I can barely remember what happened yesterday let alone over a year ago

If it goes payware, I doubt very much we'll see an FS9 version but you never know

OFFTOPIC Another angle to this debate I guess... is payware worthwhile as a designer?? I recall a while back I was asked to paint a load of concordes for a product. I was given a wire frame model and basically told to get on with it, now I think the price mentioned was about £200. I worked out, that as it was payware I could not use artistic licence and it had to be spot on, after all folk were going to pay for this... With reference material and time spent researching before I even threw a pot of virtual paint at it I guessed the job was going to be huge, with hours and hours spent on it. Probably working out to a couple of quid an hour if I was lucky and very fast!!
So I wonder how model designers who no doubt spend a huge amount of hours can ever make money?? I am not on about Wilco 737/airbuses etc etc which will have a large audience, no I am thinking of the one off's that mainly would draw specialist interest , pretty much like whats at this forum.
Plucking numbers from the air, say 100 folk bought a payware classic Britsh Navy jet say a Scimitar or the like.. what does the designer end up for all his hours spent and then having a marketing and retail company come in to sell it, who would no doubt take a large cut, then you would have to have a commercial licence for G-max or FSDS which I guess is not cheap...It begs to ask if you would get just "pennies" from each sale and would have earned more from stitching t-shirts in an Indian sweat shop for Asda?
I would find this a sure fire wy of me losing an interest in a hobby if it was to become a source of income??
Just my thoughts and worries that payware guys may just jack it in faced with this sort of payback??
Thoughts anyone
