Defiant

Post by Molyned »

To start the new year off, here's a shot of my latest project -

Yes, It's the Boulton Paul Defiant .Shown here in FSX although it is really an FS9 build which will port over reasonably well I hope.
Although the exterior is just about finished, I've only just started on the V.C. interior so don't expect to see it very soon.
Cheers

Looks great, Dave!
A potentially marvellous invention, which never really lived up to its promise.
Read a tale of some German pilots who came across a flight of them, thought they were Hurricanes, and attacked from 6o'clock high.
They got a surprise.  :agree:

    Time for a progress report.
Here's another shot of the outside after some more detailing -

and here's the office showing typical British 1940s interior taps & clocks -

I was only thinking about this a day or so ago. Watching yet another re-run of 'The World at War'.. I noted a shed load of Defiants over t'other side of the channel with the BEF.

Looks quite busy in the office Dave. Did it really have an uber-size gear indicator where you have it? Perhaps Defiant pilots were prone to landing with the gear up

From a copy of the pilot notes on sale, check this out, Gents:

The model indicator does appear to be a bit larger than usual.

Well to me it looks from the Pilots notes image to be bigger than the AHI which I think are about 3.25 inch dia but smaller than the hole for the Reid & Sigrist Turn indicator where I use 4 inch dia. So yes its a big one, but remember retractable undercarts were very new at that time!

Dave model looking very good & a very busy office.
