No Dave - the cowl isn't 'mission critical' as they say so it's just a timely reminder to me to measure twice & cut once, or its equivalent.
BTW Peter has the gladiator01.air file from the beta aircraft rather than the final one gladiator18.air - AllanL explained it to me this eve.
Cheers

Gladiator FSX Native MDLs.

Post by DaveG »

FSX Native MDLs.

Would anyone with FSX and/or P3d care to try these converted MDLs?
Should just be a case of unzipping and copying into the Gladiator folder. Backup first!
I've enabled support for bump and spec maps in the model, and included very basic textures for both, but otherwise the model is the same as Dave's original.

edit: link removed pending update.

Wow ! how did he do that :excited:
Very good Dave - most impressive. Both perform fine in FSX-SP2.
Worth noting perhaps but I had to add the aircraft.cfg & gladiator18.air for the aircraft to load and copy the two thumbnails across from the texture folders, but hey !.
I see you solved the my custom animations - all work as they should. I can't test in P3DV4 (don't have it).
There are a few folks over on S.O.H. with their tongues hanging out for these converted models.
Cheers

Dave G,
FSX SP2, Silver aircraft sliding canopy on the inside is opaque as is the gunsight. All glass exterior is about 75% opaque.
Camo aircraft glazing OK inside except for gunsight, which is opaque. Exterior glazing has quite a lot of reflection.
Both aircraft; prop staggers at all rpms & rotate in opposite direction, i.e. clockwise from rear.
No other problems noted at the moment.
I added the new textures to the existing texture folders, & retitled the original model folders so would not be called up.
Will take some screenies if you like.

Thanks for the feedback chaps.

@Dave M, I only uploaded the new / changed files, everything else should come from your original.

@Keith, I'll have to revisit the glass materials. They display fine here, but I'm using P3dv4.4 and don't have FSX installed ATM. re. prop rotation, I'd fogotten I had to change the rotation in the [Propeller] section of the aircraft.cfg to rotation=1

Some screen shots of both aircraft. Propeller OK once prop direction changed in aircraft.cfg, smooth & no stuttering either.

Thanks for the screenshots Keith.
Not sure why there is so much difference in the glass between the two models, they've both got the same material settings. *-)
I'm just downloading FSX-SE, so once that's installed I can check things properly.

DaveG, just loaded her into FSXA on my laptop with W10. Same effect, so if different will look more closely to see if both have same textures.
Just found also that VC animations do not work with the mouse, although the pop ups will work with the mouse & the throttle, mix flaps & trim will follow the pop ups. Applicable to both FSX SP2 & FSXA.
Yard arm time here now so will check later.
