Meigs revisited

Post by nigelb »

Many of us that flew earlier versions of FS will remember Meigs Field in Chicago, right on the shoreline of Lake Michigan. It was the default airport in the version I had on my Apple iie and I am pretty sure it was also the default for several PC versions of the simultor. It was closed literally in the middle of the night by Mayor Richard Daley back in March 2003. Anyway, that mayor is not seeking re-election and it looks like there is some grass roots support for bringing Meigs back. Much more detail here:

some call him Dick .... daily ;)

there are some nice scenery files to put Meigs back in FSX..... and 'him' can do nothing about it.

I wonder if his exit from office has anything to do with the latest scandal .... something about Boeing taking billions in illegal subsidies.
including 25 million to move it's world headquarters to Chicago.

If Meigs brought in so much revenue, why was this guy so intent on closing it?? I remember it closing, I guess we all do here but the reason why has been forgotten.. that is if I ever knew in the first place *-)

Ahh Meigs,

Would be nice to see it return in real world, and it might. Was reading an article on it the other day, I think they'd secured funding for it, it would be interesting to watch, resurecting an airport from what now seems to be a city park.

This is from my old FS9 install. Both the airport scenery and v35 are freeware
