Can anyone identify this aircraft ?

Post by Paul K »

On the BBC website, there is a feature about a stowaway who fell to his death under the flightpath into Heathrow...

In the video, a rather odd looking aircraft is shown - its looks like a cross between a 747 and a B-52. Anyone know of it ?

It's ex-BA G-BDXA, ruined as a movie prop. Often seen on the background on Top Gear at Dunsfold.

Thanks for that chaps. Presumably the engines are the four originals, but why did they pair them into two pods, and why bother with the external fuel tanks ?

Probably something to do with it's film career mate.. trying to make it look like something it's not despite the fact that it could only be a 747 :)
