It seems this time the end to the SRN4s might really be here!

Kind regards

Hmm.. I wondered which Olympus powered giants you meant :-O

Hardly surprising some contractor or other wants to develop the land to put houses on. I doubt there's a square metre of the British Isles where someone, somewhere doesn't want to build on it 8)

Very sad news. I was on the Princess Anne during the same storm that smashed the front of the QE2. The side skirt exploded and the craft was forced to beach at Wissant. It took nearly two hours to drift with the tide, all the while being battered with massive waves. A very scary ride indeed

Saw these last year at Lee on Solent looking very sorry for themselves. A good friend of mine (ex RAF engine fitter) was asked if he could help as he had previous on the Proteus engines fitted to them but ill health prevented him.
They were short of cash and ideas regrettably.

Another victory for the house builders.

Ah yes... Proteus!

Cheers Nev. I hope one of them makes it to the museum. I always wanted to go on one :(

I must admit I thought both of these hovercraft were broken up years ago. I'm very surprised to read that both still exist.

There is a petition to save one of them at least, I don't know how much good it will do at this stage but I've signed it:
https://www.change.org/p/homes-and-comm ... the-nation
Due to shortages and cutbacks the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

I can remember as a child going to the Isle of Wight on Holiday and seeing the SRN1 and the 2 which had just been given its' first outing.
