Petition for Knighthood for last Surviving Dambuster

Post by Nigel H-J »

Came across this quite by accident, it is an appeal headed by Carol Vordeman for the last surviving Dambuster member George 'Johnny' Johnson to receive a knighthood.

just click on the link and sign the petition, I have already done it. cannot think of a more deserving petition to sign.

Just signed it - apparently they will allow signatures from the Colonies.

It's good Carol has acted as a figurehead and, unlike other murmurings in the past, there has been an acknowledgement that it would be a collective award - not just as a Dambuster, but as a Bomber Command airman. This is the only way it could be justified IMHO, as any other way would be unfair on Johnny Johnson and other surviving BC vets (including the other Dambuster in Canada).

I signed from the colonies also. What would he get besides the title, tea with the queen and someone to follow behind banging coconuts together?

Signed.

More deserving than some of the latest crop.

You mean across the board, or from our 2,000 plus membership, Kevin?
