Re: Proposals to close Fairoaks
Some greedy land developer wanting to make a few bucks. Grease a few palms on the council and goodbye airfield.

Duly signed. All too often these companies who build homes only have one thing in mind....PROFIT!! nothing else, they do not care where they build as long as they can build regardless of the consequences that would ultimately affect the local communities and more importantly the quality of life of the surrounding areas by increased volume of traffic not to mention extra strain on surgeries and schools.
Living in a village which has now been joined up by another village due to developers another 300 homes are to be built on former green belt of land nearby, our objections were successful on the planning application a few years ago but now after re-submitting the application even though many were against it it has been passed, local authorities are equally to blame when it comes down to allowing applications as it often depends on the advice given by the Planning Officer to the Planning Committee as to whether to allow the application to be approved or rejected. At the end of the day he can only advise, the actual decision is by the committee of local councillors and if they agree to it then vote the bl**dy lot off at the next elections.
Nigel.

I worked there when I left the RAF in 1960, and would be sorry to see it close down. How they expect the narrow roads and lanes in that area to support all the extra traffic that development would generate, is beyond belief.
McLaren racing are on the edge of the field, so it will still be noisy.

Signed. Too many airfields under threat these days. Wellesbourne (where I flew my first and only flight) was under threat and another airfield in Surrey, where a good friend of mine works, is also under threat. Politicians don't seem to want to stop until the entire green and pleasant land is covered in houses and the ones that are built are generally rubbish.
Re: Proposals to close Fairoaks
It would appear that the target of 3,500 signatures required has been surpassed.
