Bless the Irish

Post by Filonian »

Paddy went into a department store and asked the sales assistant, "Do you sell potato clocks?"

"Sorry sir," she replied, "I've never heard of such a thing. We sell digital clocks, alarm clocks, carriage clocks, but what exactly is a potato clock?"

"To be perfectly honest I'm not sure either," said Paddy, "but I start a new job at nine tomorrow, and my wife said to me, 'You'd better get a potato clock.'"

A battery can be made from a potato, which can then be used to power a clock.

I know that, but I'm not getting the joke.
