Happy Birthday, Royal Air Force ( 100 )

Post by Paul K »

Today marks the centenary of the Royal Air Force as an independent air arm. Congratulations to the RAF and all RAF personnel, past and present, who are members of this forum.

Graham, may we have a cake please ? :)

No one is perfect, but if you've been in the RAF you've got closer than most. :-)

I wonder if it's something to do with the start of a new financial year, keeping accounts neat and tidy, apportioning budgets for various branches of the armed forces in the coming year etc. We might unknowingly be celebrating the centenary of the bean counters too! ;)

I've done my bit. Four of those 100 years were mine.

I was an airframe mech, but everyone was important. Especially the wages clerks!

Good on you, Den!

Paul, I forgot about some folks having 31st March as a financial year end.
Most Australian businesses end FY on 30th June, and that's also when personal tax returns are made up to.
When I was a bean counter myself, I was very annoyed with our Government introducing a "Fringe Benefits Tax", for which the reporting year ends on 31st March.... how *+=## convenient was that!?

I see the BBC called it 'Britain's Royal Air Force' Stupid as there is only one Royal Air Force.

Had a great time (2 year apprenticeship then 12 years service).

Electronic Technician Air Radar.

Not me chief, radar.
