Is that a meal served on a lazy susan?

Hey Mike!

It's the 4th of July!
Independence Day!

It's raining with a lot of lightning so the city closed the public party on Flagler Dr.
Primarily because people occasionally are struck by lightning and the city's lawyers are afraid they'll get sued for allowing people to roam around in a thunderstorm.. .. ..

Boy we've come along way since 4 July 1776
Oh... plus
I get no fireworks show. :|

Yes, it's the 4th of July. :S

It's 7:20 pm Pacific Time where I live. In our area the rules are different from city to county, meaning you can or cannot light fireworks depending on where you live. We live in the county so neighbors can purchase fireworks at the local reservati0n and light them off when they want. Consequently, some dirtballs have been lighting off fireworks for the past two days and will continue for the rest of the week. Did I say it sounds like a war zone? :excited:

The wife and I no longer travel the roads to see any staged firework shows because the traffic is so bad, and there are too many jerks on the road celebrating (i.e., driving intoxicated). In a couple of hours I will grab a cold beer, walk outside and site on the back of my truck, and watch fireworks around my neighborhood - if the clouds clear, that is.

It's going to be a long, noisy night and I don't envy those with pets. Most likely I'll stay up late at the computer, until the noise dies down. :hide:

Here ya go, Joe. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZvC8xo2gkI
Start watching at 1:19:39. Plenty of fireworks and cannons. B-) Argh! We don't have any 4th of July smilies. I guess the Mexican smilie will have to do. :bandit:  And yes WH, I hear your pain. I've been hearing fireworks here in Dallas since last Sunday.

Thanks fellas.

I abandoned my plans . I stayed home.
The city went ahead and lit the fuse in spite of the lightning.

..
Actually I'm astounded they had the show.
All throughout the rainy season the weathermen say ..
If you see lightning , Take Cover.
Public announcements on tv warn of the dangers of
lightning.
Florida has more lightning strikes than any other state in the union. 1,414,284 strikes per year with an average of 24.7 per square mile.
463 deaths from 1959-2011, which is the most of any state.
32 deaths since 06 (data from weather channel . Com

And lo and behold There is lightning in the pictures.

Two pics from the local paper

Clearly the city officials care more about the bottom line than the citizens safety.

It's the 5th. The countdown begins
