Cammell Laird says it is the biggest civilian ship launched in Britain in three decades. Think about Britain's shipbuilding and marine engineering past: she's a fine vessel no doubt, but the biggest non-military ship we've built in thirty years?! What the heck has happened to us ? It makes me so bloody angry.

Agreed Paul. Shipbuilding is a huge part of the British DNA, imho. It always has been. Look at a "who's who" list of historic passenger ships...9 out of 10 will be British made, guaranteed.

Despite the disappointing situation, it's awe-inspiring to see it happen, and heart-warming to read of the humour, which in no way diminishes our respect for the man.
