Yippee we've got rain tonight. Still pleasantly warm though. We've had friends here for a few days from our old stamping ground of Nottingham and they weren't looking forward to going back to the heat and humidity. Weekend temps here were around 21C but have been up to about 25C today. Who would have thought that rain would be so welcome up here! Not sure if it will last that long though. EricT

On the upside - I went swimming in the North Sea yesterday without freezing the important bits off. First time since 1970(ish) so not all bad.

Always look on the bright side of life de dah de dah! Yes, I can appreciate that bit about freezing the naughty bits, having had holidays in a place called Eccles On Sea and trying to enjoy the frigid delights of the North Sea. Brrrrrrr! cold as (use your imagination here). Of course that was 60 years ago before climate change. Meanwhile here, after no rain for the first 16 days of July, we are getting drenched. 8 inches of rain since Friday and that pattern is expected to continue all week. I'd better start building an ark..

On the other side of the Channel here in Belgium, my thermometer hit 34.9°C - that's about 95F - and it is mounted in the shade.

And the local forecaster predicts even hotter weather in the coming days.
