Insurance - against what??

Post by Airspeed »

Years ago, there was a joke kicking round about an elderly lady writing to an insurance company, saying that as her husband died some years back, she was unable to keep up the payments on his life insurance.
The Royal Commission into insurance here has just made one company repay over a million dollars that they took as premiums from deceased life insurance customers.
This comes after the RC into banks, which produced the most awful discoveries of just how unethical the major banks have been.
It makes you despair at the corporate greed. :((

As Gordon Brown in a recent interview said, some of the bankers should have been jailed. There is no deterrent to them and their greed. 8) EricT

And practically bankrupted Britain, bankers and politicians walk hand in hand, need to get rid of a lot of them!!

When interest rates go up it will be the bankers who deny the rise to savers as well!

I would just point out gents that I’m not defending GB in any way, merely referring to his comments. In fact I’ve often wondered if the bankers were allowed to get away with it because they had something on the politicians. The great and the good eh? :wall: EricT

I have always maintained the City run this country. It would be interesting to actually expose all the grubby little dealings that are politicians of all persuasions get up to and are getting away with.

....Whilst he will retire on a pension triple what you earned at the peak of your employment!
Why did they cut you off, Graham, I suppose you had enough in the bank to buy yourself a cup of tea AND one for a friend? Well, you brought it on yourself. :bandit:

Nay Mike, I was referring to the tax raid on pension funds which destroyed most final salary based pensions,

Would that I had enough banked to buy the cup of tea you mentioned. My savings went in trying to service a mortgage when I became ill and could no longer work.
