Hercules, Avro RJ85 and several others about

Post by Airspeed »

There's a large (hundreds of hectares) grass fire a few kilometers North of us.
Abovementioned aircraft are bombing red fire retardant. Bulldozers etc creating fire breaks.
Air has been still, but unfortunately North wind is forecast to pick up. :worried:
They've evacuated people from the two towns directly to our North.
We're on "Watch and act" notice. :worried:

Thanks Larry ;)
The air cranes and other helicopters can be heard constantly since the fixed wings moved on.
Temperature has dropped to 37.3°c but the wind is picking up. They say that this means rapid change may happen.
Trouble is, the fire is partially in steep gullies where the trucks can't get in.
There is a relief centre in our town, so if they advise so, we'll go there pronto. Essentials ready on the table for a quick exit.

OMG Mike, 2019 is not turning out to be a good year and sincerely hope that you are not faced with having to evacuate.

There are many countries like yours that are susceptible to these 'Wild Fires' as they are known, fortunately you have the services that are able to deal with this and really hope that you and your wife are going to be OK.

Keep us informed.

Regards
Nigel.

And there was me full of self-pity last night because I fell over on the snow during the dog walk and bruised my hip! Sounds trite, but stay safe my friend and keep us posted if you can.
