Heated Runways?

Today a visiting friend mentioned that a Polish acquaintance was looking forward to visiting her parents in Poland, the part of her journey that worried her was being able to take off from Heathrow due to snow, she had no worries about being able to land in Poland because "we have heated runways."


I've not heard of heated runways in Poland or anywhere else - can a forum member please confirm that such facilities exist in Poland or anywhere else in the world? Or was my friend the victim of a "leg pull"?

I'm 99% sure he was just having fun with your friend. Imagine the cost of a heated runway.

Unlikely, but they've probably got a few snow ploughs to hand which is more than the UK usually has!

Hmmm , brain memory is letting me down ; but somehow ...... It does not seem too far fetched , as heated ramps I've seen .
In mountainous USA , quite common for heated drives and some pavements in town .
