Old Man of 43 Losing His Whassisname...

Post by Swanoir »

Just tried logging on to our beloved site from a different PC. Even though I've dutifully and happily checked in every single day for at least, what, ten years? I have no idea what my login details are!! Let that be a warning everyone! Stop trusting your computer to remember your passwords etc. Obviously, I'm writing this from the original Man Cave PC which knows me so well, but I'm scared now! :hide: BTW, what's my wife called?

I have quite a full book containing user names, passwords etc, but I'd never written my banking details there.
Had to reinstall W7 AND Firefox again so all the log ins were gone.
Embarrassed that I had to call the bank and do a password reset. :$

I have everything on one Open Office document, regularly updated as needs be. All very confidential of course, so only my two daughters know that there's a printed copy in the cabinet in the lounge at the right hand end, in the green folder.

Have all my passwords on a USB stick as well as a print-out.

Nigel.

If you used Firefox as a browser you could back up all your passwords/login details and transfer them to your new computer. I've done it several times when replacing the main C: drive or building a whole new rig.

If I called my girlfriend Fred, she'd ring my - bells.
