The Last of the Doolittle Raiders Dick Cole Passes On

I had the great privilege of meeting Dick at the 2007 Stuart Air Show.

He is seated in Tom Reilly's B25 Mitchell preparing for a sunset flight.

Condolences to his family.

Sorry to hear that his time has come. RIP.
Must have been interesting to meet him, Joe.
I think that I remember you mentioned meeting him, in a post a couple of years back?

It is always a fantastic feeling when you personally meet with some-one like that Joe, guess you must have had a very interesting talk.

Regards
Nigel.

Nigel. It certainly was.. His account of the operation was compelling.
I mean.. Flying off the deck of an aircraft carrier knowing there was a fat chance you had enough fuel to make it back.

Mike.
IIRC
... when David Thatcher passed..

RIP, Richard Cole. Nice that he was around long enough to see the USS Hornet rediscovered.
