South East England. Today is wet and windy as it has been for the last month or more.

Wanna swap places?

Our town is OK at present. thanks Allan. ;)
The radio & TV are full of bad news, and it's worrying how often we hear: "If you are in --------, you are advised that it is too late to leave; seek shelter and stay indoors."
Two Victorian fathers in their mid 30s died when a tree fell on their fire truck, and a beachside fire started when gas bottles ignited between 2 houses. There are fires in our general area, and four big ones threatening to join up in Gippsland (hours away).
NSW, QLD and SA have had worse than Vic so far, but things are getting bad as the heat rises. Koalas said to be at risk of extinction. Heartbreaking video of them struggling to walk on burning ground; nowhere for them to go. :((

I need to be careful here lest my rage get the better of me. Have a look at this...

https://www.theguardian.com/australia-n ... active-map

Apparently the weather in Hawaii and other holiday venues is just tickety-boo.

Note to self... calm down.
Note to UK... you're going to find out just what you've elected, and trust me, they're even worse than the lying idiots we've got.
Note to Moderators... bit emotional at what's happening at home. Please delete this if out of order.

I'm just downriver from Chertsey in Walton -on-Thames. It's certainly been extremely windy these last few days. Thankfully, it's calm and sunny this morning.

Seeing the news from OZ today, it really is devastating. Hoping for better things for you, and a calm and peaceful Christmas.

Den.

I think the reports from Oz that up to 30% of these fires are started deliberately is food for thought. I think any arsonists caught should spend the rest of their days in prison.

We have usually managed to avoid politics on this board. It has been one of its attractions . And I won't comment on Australian politics . I trust you will do the same in relation to the United Kingdom.A Happy and Safe Christmas to you all , and here from the UK we wish we could send you our rain to help the situation
