Sir Stirling Moss.
I used to be an optimist but with age I am now a grumpy old pessimist.
Re: Sir Stirling Moss.

Yes, this is what happens as we age, our childhood heroes leave us.
A legend whose name is part of the English language.
Rest In Peace, and thanks for being such a champion.

Good grief. His name is synonymous with racing. Rest in peace Stirling.

I've only ever been to one GP, and Stirling won that one in a Vanwall. It was at Aintree in 1957. His car actually broke down, and he took over his team mate Tony Brooks car. It was allowed back then.
I was station at RAF Kirkham, not far up the road, and I went with several of my mates. Happy memories.

Re: Sir Stirling Moss.
I saw an interview with Sir Stirling Moss not so long ago, in which he recalled a young boy cracking the joke:
Q. What comes out of a wardrobe at 100mph ?
A. Stirling Moth
He was very amused, but rather surprised that after all these years, his name was still synonymous with speed, even to this young lad.
RIP Stirling.

RIP Stirling Moss . I always thought his greatest drive of all was to win the Mille Miglia in the 300 SLR with Jenks as the "riding mechanic"/ navigator
