Just had a strange occurrence. AIG Boeing 757-200rr Jet 2 landing at Leeds was told to contact groud when still 5 miles out.
Wheels never touched ground until over the runway.

I must take more water with it.

*-) What worries me most, is that you heard this when you don't have an airband radio, Graham.
Maybe they were testing secret long-legged undercarriage?
Possibly just wanted to know whether they wanted a latte or cappuccino when they got down? :dunno:

Over the runway is the best place for the wheels to touch the ground.

Agreed, but 5 to 10 miles out - being given permission to land followed shortly by "contact ground"
