By the way, why assume Keith meant the NF11 when he said he was one mark out - he might have thought it was an NF 13. :poke:
As a mere Glasshopper-in-training I would not dare to seem to imply knowledge of Keith's encyclopedic noggin. I struggle to keep up with the pocket notebook shedding pages behind my own glasses. Especially as Keith may have played with them during his Welsh sojourns.

With new hindsight the lights thing seems to apply to the 13 too but I had not thought of them. Seems we sold them to the French and Israeli Air Forces. I suppose De Gaulle conk jokes may be out of order............ :worried:

Pete
My knowledge of Meteors really only extends to the U16......I didn't/don't know the subsequent NF variants or their internals. Was there a NF10? So NF11 just sits in my memory.

Thank you Mike for the post PM award...appreciated
Keith

Seeing as you asked, Pete,
The following cut & paste from Keith's PM explains all:

First frame is a givaway....2 seater, square glazed cockpit, belly tank, then the radar....what can I say other than Meteor NF11.

Thanks for showing us the differences.

For the Members who haven't submitted correct identification:

The list is massive, taking up a full page in my tracking book. In order of receipt:
Brian (Fly Texas), Keith (Dev One), Kevin Farnell, PeteP, Pete (Motormouse), AllanL, Brian Franklin, Mick (woody901), Peter W (Miles Man), JohnD, Den (511Flyer), Joe (blanston12), Paul K.
And that's got to be the longest list of "winners" I can recall!
I can't control the size of the images created and hosted by Joe (airboatr), so as usual, I'll let you all take turns in selecting your specific badge from the bottomless bucket hereunder. Congratulations All, and many thanks for taking part. ;)

Look, it's Andy Booth's birthday, but he hasn't been here since 2009, so it's like a no birthday day anyway.

Another 3 images. I smudged out an identifying symbol on the fin. Apart from that, WYSIWYG. :)
Not a run of the mill aircraft, but some of you will get it.

This HAS proved tough! :OB:
We have two correct replies so far, from PeterW (MilesMan), with Pete (Motormouse) not far behind.
Overall, the most popular name was HONGDU JL-8, but as we know, the popular vote often doesn't win.
It has been suggested that many countries have built advanced trainer/attack aircraft to a very similar design, and from the range of names sent in, that is definitely the case. I've checked out images of them, and I share your pain.

As you know, I like to see multiple correct answers, so I'll add to the above by saying that the country of origin is in Eastern Europe, about the size of Poland, and not that far from Poland.
With all these extras, I'll give you another 24 hours for a chance at a cloth badge, which is all the real Observers ever got. ;)
