Convair 440. EricT
The second correct answer, congratulations Eric :welldone:
Apologies for not acknowledging this yesterday, I can only say that I've been distracted with various things. My computer apparently has memory problems, and I may have caught it off the computer, or maybe I've passed it to the computer.
Your award, Eric:

For those who were close, here's a comparison of the variants:

hey I was half right... the CL-66 was the Convair 440 built by Canadair, after Canadair bought the rights and jigs when Convair gave up... (Canadair initially put the Napier Eland turboprop on it... later replaced by an Allison powerplant)

We had three correct answers, all earning a Diamond award.
The picture was of a French Bloch MB157.
In order of correct submission:

If I manage to dodge the blacklist police, I'll post this and edit in the full photo.

Harking back to the Convair 440:
Chris Storey submitted Convair 340, and I posted a comparison trio, showing the difference in nose length.
While I was looking further, re Motormouse's "half right" message re Canadair CL-66, I read that the Convair 340 was offered with the extended nose of the 440. The extension was to accommodate radar. I do not know if any were built to that optional configuration, nor whether the cockpit windows remained as for the 340, or changed to the 440 shape.
I claim no expertise in this field.
I just find images of aircraft that either look very similar to another, or seem obscure.
I can't find an on-line 3 view of the Canadair build, to compare, but maybe they reckon it's not worth it on account of it being no different. :dunno:
I don't want to deny a deserved award, so being judge, jury, and deliverer, here's my offer:

Thanks again for your participation, much appreciated. ;)

Well, that's very generous of you, but undeserved   , because I never spotted the lengthened nose, and see that in any event there appears to be a second ?VOR aerial on the 440 which further distinguishes them

Time's running out, Pete.
We have one correct answer on the PM.
No other takers.
Anyone else going to try in the next 24 hours?

We've had another suggestion, and although the country is right, it is not a Mitsubishi.
2 extra clues means that gold and silver are gone.
Here's another view which may help you earn a cloth patch:
