Ted Cook made both the Master and the preceding Kestrel prototype.

Odd how an aircraft made in the thousands and flexible enough to be a trainer, emergency fighter prototype and target tug should be forgotten. We even had more of them than the Harvard. When it came out it was faster than the contemporary biplane fighters still in service.

The patch behind the man entering the door is a cut & paste bit of fuselage to block out a letter which was painted on.

The answer was DH 85 Flamingo: EDIT: Make that a 95 (see prompt from Keith below)

First to receive the chequered flag was PeteP, at 18:18 my time, and nudging him along was Keith (Dev One) at 18:40.
Soon, Ben (TSR2) made a nice finish. AllanL, EDIT: Joe (blanston12) [sorry Joe ] Eric (Tomliner), rolled in, low on fuel, but earning diamond badges.

Den (511Flyer) suffered some electronics problems, and coasted over the line for silver.

Some late items:
I read recently that the Miles Master was not popular in respect of its car - crank manual starter. Apparently, a cold morning could leave the operators hot and sweaty. Lacking electric starting, engine stops in the air were interesting events.

I meant to previously mention two good suggestions regarding the Gloster pictures; Chris (cstorey) and Myles came up with Messerschmitt 410 Hornisse with BMW radials. Very close match for that steep nose!

A change of perspective today.
An aircraft was fitted with experimental engines, but never intended to go into production.
Here are two configurations tried out.
All you need to do is say what aircraft type was used.
