In Bound!!

Post by Nigel H-J »

Going to Grantham yesterday a white BMW passes and then a loud crack!! Piece of stone had been thrown up by the passing BMW and caused a hairline fracture on my windscreen just above and slightly to the left of my head.

Outcome is now I have to wait just over a week then travel down to Grantham to have the windscreen replaced and the Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, or ADAS for short re-calibrated. The windscreen company do not have the facilities in Lincoln so my whole afternoon is going to be taken up going to the workshop then having to leave the premises due to Covid 19 (Waiting room no longer used due to Covid 19).

This is one of the biggest bugbears of modern technology, not only having to go to Grantham but also they need to have the car with a full fuel tank so as to enable a more precise calibration. Have to drop off the car at 15.00hrs and should be ready by 18.00hrs.

Not Happy I can tell you especially if it rains!!

ADAS :-O
Next, you'll be telling us about the personalised helmet as supplied to F35 pilots! What are they? $100,000? $250,000? have to check them out again.
Mine was much simpler.
A stone took a match head sized chip just above the driver's side wiper blade.
Over a few weeks, a crack appeared, then spread a bit each day or so.
$240 later, we're ready for the next one. :worried:

I sold my modern stuff and have gone back to this

2 speed wipers, Wind up windows and no power steering.
But it is top spec (Rear wash wipe)

more fun than any other 4 wheeler i have owned and still on it's original engine 36 years from New (Admittedly i spent a few G's rebuilding the mechanicals.

Hi Rick,
About the same age as my Mitzubishi L300 Express.
Mine isn't as shiny as yours, so you can't see the reflected number plate on the bumper. :shhh:

Brilliant Rick!! I much prefer vehicles from the 60's to 70's, engines so much easier to work on, I used to service my Morris 1100 myself when I was in the RAF, the only time it saw a garage was for the MOT. Ran really well.

Just had a call from Autoglass who are now going to collect my car and return it after the windscreen and calibration have been done.

You cannot complain about that, now I am beginning to feel very guilty!! :$

Regards
Nigel
