Ah.
You would have had your books full in Melbourne in the 80s and 90s; the number of people asking for money on the streets was unbelievable.
Don't know what it's like now, I've avoided the "concrete and clay" like the proverbial plague for the past 2.5 decades.

I drove about 65 miles round trip for that
A lock and dam on the rim of Lake Okeechobee called Port Mayaca, which is the place I photographed Comet Hale-Bopp from.
I did have a nice time of it though. There were about 50-60 people there. I was lucky enough to be next to a guy and his wife who had a telescope set up with a tracking apparatus ... er something .
