Forum link dead

Post by emfrat »

For about a week now, the Latest Forum Activty area has nothing displayed, although there are plenty of new posts in the main page. My browser is Pale Moon (a Firefox clone) but the same thing happens in Firefox and Chrome. No big deal, but as no-one else seems to have noticed, I wonder if it may be something at my end?

That’s odd, there have been no updates to the forum in the last week, but I see what you mean. Unless one of the weekly security patches has killed it, which is a possibility.

I had noticed that too. I had been meaning to report it, but hadn't got round to it. Also. for quite some time avatars have not been showing. I'm not sure if this is intentional or not. I don't really find it an issue, it's just my observation.

Hi Ben

In the past, member's avatars used to show below their names. For some time I haven't been seeing these. For example my avatar is -

Image

However, it states that 'the avatar functionality is currently disabled'. Either I've changed a setting in my profile, or the avatars are disabled globally. If the second, it's really no issue especially if they add to bandwidth use.
I'm using Firefox 90.0.2, but also tried Google Chrome with the same effect.

Cheers

Kevin

I’ll take a look Kevin. I hadn’t noticed tbh. I know they aren’t usually displayed on mobiles or tablets as the site adapts automatically to the screen size, but I’ll see what I can do.

Found it Kevin. It was a setting for linking Avatars from remote websites. I think I had disabled it when I was investigating a problem a few years ago and forgot to re-enable it.

Cheers Ben!

As I say, I didn't really see it as an issue but it is nice to see them back. I'm somewhat unusual, in that I don't have either a smart phone or tablet.

Just a quick note.

The forum doesn't load in 32bit Firefox.
