Busy Early Morning

Post by Nigel H-J »

Around 7 am this morning. Seems like air travel is once again picking up. Around 12 vapour trails overhead where I live.

If this is the start of airlines getting back to near normal then I hope PaulC is able to pursue his aim of flying commercially

Quite normal in the UK. Or,at least it was prior to COVID (things are starting to move back towards 'normal' now).
Flights from Birmingham, Manchester, East Midlands, Liverpool, Leeds and Newcastle as well as Scottish airports (and others) will be heading SSE to mainland Europe. Whilst flights from Heathrow, Gatwick and mainland Europe will be heading NNW to cross 'The Pond'.
In the past, when Heathrow has been fogbound, I've seen numerous aircraft holding in a 'racetrack' pattern over Birmingham and many puzzled people at bus stops looking skyward.
Still, a great photo Nigel. Thanks for sharing.

Contrails depend upon temperature, so they may become more apparent at the airway altitude one day & not the next.
